Observation on Teachers


1.1  Planning for Teaching
The teacher need to have understanding of the contents as well as student’s background, and they usually prepare themselves before taking any classes. They need to make the lesson plans following the book that used. They also, created some activities suitable for each level of the students. Moreover, making and finding materials are important parts the teacher realize and prepare them well.

1.2  Preparing Lessons and Materials
The teacher need to complete the lesson plans before they have to teaching. They can follow by steps and preparation of the lesson plans completed. Before teacher start a class, the materials, which relate to the lesson, will be already. The teachers might make materials by themselves or find some that are easy to find and use.

1.3  Teaching in Class
I was doing observation with two English teachers, there are Teacher Kanokwan and Teacher Bowling. Teacher Bowling is a student teacher from CRRU in English Education major. The first observation was carried out at class 5/1, 5/2 and 5/3 together with teacher Bowling, the topic is The Activities. In this learning, teacher bowling gave greetings to students, then explained the material and then asked students to work on student workbooks. Then, teacher bowling discuss together the work with the students. So, the students can knew where they are wrong. As well, teacher bowling also write the meaning of vocabulary words in each learning.  Because, it can help students to get more knowledge of vocabulary in english. The same thing was done in grades 5/2 and 5/3.

The next observation with teacher Kanokwan for students in grade 6/1, 6/2 and 6/3 the topic about Fun Weekend. Before starting learning, teacher Kanokwan greets students and students answer greetings from the teacher. The teacher asks students to collect the homework given last week. After that, the teacher asks students to open the Student English Book and begin explaining the material in the book. Based on the material The Fun Weekend, the teacher then linked the material with the English Camp activities was held on Saturday in one of station presentation about how to make chocolate cookie. After that, teacher tell students finished workbook. After student was finished the workbook, the teacher plays music related to the lesson so students sing and dance together until the end of the learning hour.

 The Next observation with Teacher Bowling on the topic about Adverb of Manner. Teacher Bowling used the Hot Potato model to test student’s understanding of the learning material. The hot potato model is: students are given a small yellow ball so that it is similar to a potato, then the ball is thrown to one of the students. Students who get the ball must answer questions from the teacher. If students are able to answer, students throw the ball at other students. Students must answer quickly, because the time given to each student is very limited when their holding the ball. Therefore, this game was called hot potato, because the ball must be passed quickly to the others.

 The next observation was during at English Camp activity. The English camp activity is attended by students from grades three to six and is held into two days, on Friday August 10 2018, attended by students 3 and 4, and on August 18 2018 attended by students in grades 5 and 6. In this activity, students must pass through all the stations. There are 5 stations, I am placed at first station with Mr.Bobby. Mr. Bobby is a teacher from Philiphine, he teaches Mathematics and Science in English. At our station, Mr. Bobby taught about the Part of The Body material accompanied by games. Games performed are using Hulahop and Ballon. Students are asked to play with hulahop alternately followed by music, if music stops then students who get hulahop must answer questions from Mr.Bobby about part of the Body. If students cannot answer then Mr. Bobby will put powder on student’s face. The next game is Ballon. This game aims to develop team work among students. This game is carried out in pairs, students are asked to bring a balloon around the hulahop in pairs with a balloon placed in front of the student's face accompanied by music.

1.4  Measurement and Evaluation
The measurement and evaluation of each teaching is involved to the standard of content curriculum. During the lesson, the teacher check student’s understand by questioning and observing when they do any activities. The teacher also give some workbook or worksheet for students.
